Ronaldo and Fernandes inspire Portugal to victory
Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes were in impressive form as Portugal beat Turkey 3-0 in their opening match of Euro 2024. Ronaldo set up Fernandes for the opening goal in the 20th minute, before doubling Portugal's lead with a sumptuous free-kick in the 40th minute. Fernandes then added his second of the game in the 55th minute to seal the victory.
Turkey's winless run against Portugal continues
The victory was Portugal's fourth consecutive win over Turkey at the European Championship, and it also extended Turkey's winless run against Portugal to six games. Turkey have now lost all four of their meetings with Portugal at the European Championship, by an aggregate score of 11-0.
